Survival Guide for Winter Sports

It might seem that winter is gone already and we're entering spring, but this is the best time of the year to go skiing!

The top of the mountains are covered with snow, the ski centers are open, the roads are clean and the weather is good so not only you're not feeling cold but in some cases you might need to take the jacket off!

Μπορεί να φαίνεται ότι ο χειμώνας τελείωσε και μπαίνουμε στην άνοιξη, αλλά δεν υπάρχει καλύτερη εποχή για να πας για σκι!

Οι κορφές των βουνών είναι καλυμμένες με χιόνι, τα χιονοδρομικά είναι ανοιχτά, η πρόσβαση πολύ πιο εύκολη και ο καιρός καλός έτσι ώστε όχι μόνο να μην κρυώνεις αλλά σε μερικές περιπτώσεις να χρειάζεται να μείνεις με το κοντομάνικο!

Starting with the basics : What are we wearing?

Start with a cotton tank top, because you'll sweat from the effort and a thin top with long sleeves, since it will be warm in the chalet and also, the jacket you'll be wearing is warm enough.

Αρχίζοντας με τα βασικά : Τι φοράμε??

Από μέσα προς τα έξω, φορέστε ένα βαμβακερό φανελάκι, γιατί θα ιδρώσετε και ένα λεπτό μακρυμάνικο μπλουζάκι, γιατί πρώτον κάνει πολύ ζέστη στο σαλέ και δεύτερον το μπουφάν είναι πολύ ζεστό.

If you like skiing, you'd better invest in snow clothes (especially during sales, you'll find good offers). It can be a ski unitard or jacket with trousers seperately.

Αν σας αρέσει το σκι, καλό θα ήταν να επενδύσετε σε ειδικά ρούχα (ειδικά στις εκπτώσεις θα βρείτε σούπερ προσφορές) τα οποία μπορεί να είναι μια φόρμα του σκι, ή μπουφάν με παντελόνι ή κολάν.

If you go skiing for the first time and you don't want to spend money, I personally have been skiing with just jeans with tights or leggings underneath. and I was perfectly fine. But make sure your jacket is short so you move easily and instead of a thin blouse, wear something thicker.

Αν πηγαίνετε για πρώτη φορά και δεν θέλετε να ξοδέψετε λεφτά, προσωπικά έχω κάνει σκι με τζιν με καλτσόν από μέσα και ήμουν οκ. Από πάνω όμως φροντίστε το μπουφάν να είναι κοντό για ευκολία κινήσεων και αντί για λεπτή μπλούζα, φορέστε κάτι πιο χοντρό.

My go-to shoes for mountains and snow is a pair of boots like the ones below. Anything waterproof to keep you dry until you change into the ski boots later is fine.

Τα go-to παπούτσια μου για βουνά και χιόνια είναι ένα ζευγάρι μποτάκια σαν αυτά. Οτιδήποτε αδιάβροχο ώστε να φτάσετε στεγνή για να αλλάξετε στις ειδικές μπότες.


In your bag : Take with you an extra pair of shocks and a tshirt to change if you get wet or sweat.

Στην τσάντα σας : Πάρτε μαζί σας ένα επιπλέον ζευγάρι κάλτσες και ένα tshirt για να αλλάξετε αν βραχείτε ή ιδρώσετε.

Accessories : The most important thing to get is a pair of gloves. Try a thick one (and leave the leather ones at home) otherwise you might end up with rippes gloves and sore hands at the end of the day, taking the wire ski lift.

Αξεσουάρ : Το πιο σημαντικό που πρέπει να θυμηθείτε είναι γάντια. Καλό είναι να επιλέξετε ένα χοντρό ζευγάρι (και αφήστε τα δερμάτινα στο σπίτι) γιατί αν παίρνετε το μικρό τελεφερίκ όπου πιάνεις ένα συρματάκι και σε τραβάει, στο τέλος της ημέρας τα χέρια σας θα πονάνε και τα γάντια σας θα έχουν σκιστεί!

Gloves

A hat is convenient to keep your hair out of the way but not extremely important unless it snows.

Scarf is also nessesary only if it's cold, so put it in your bag just in case (and the bag is getting bigger, but whatever, we don't go for trips everyday!)

Ένα σκουφάκι είναι βολικό να κρατάει τα μαλλιά σας πίσω αλλά όχι και υπερβολικά απαραίτητο εκτός αν χιονίζει.

Το κασκόλ επίσης απαραίτητο μόνο σε μεγάλα κρύα, βάλτε το στην τσάντα για καλό και για κακό. ( και ναι η τσάντα γεμίζει και γεμίζει, αλλά τι να κάνεις, εκδρομή πάμε!) :)

Make up : Moisturise your face and on top of that wear sunscreen, because the chances of coming back at the end of the day looking like a lobster, are high!

Μake up : Βάλτε την ενυδατική σας αλλά βάλτε και έξτρα αντιηλιακό, γιατί οι πιθανότητες να γυρίσετε σαν αστακός, σαν μετά από 2 μέρες στην Χαλκιδική,είναι μεγάλες!!

Any foundation you choose to wear is fine.

On your lips, just wear a good chapstick to moisturize your lips and nothing else (give some to your man too).

Οποιαδήποτε κάλυψη και να επιλέξετε δεν έχει και πολύ σημασία.

Στα χείλια βάλτε ένα καλό chapstick για ενυδάτωση και τίποτε άλλο (και δώστε λίγο και στον καλό σας).

Liposan

For your eyes, leave heavy eye shadows and choose eye pencils in happy colours around your eyes or just on your waterline. I tend to match the eyeliner with my clothes!

Στα μάτια, αφήστε τις βαριές σκιές και προτιμήστε ένα χρωματιστό μολύβι γύρω από τα μάτια ή μόνο στο κάτω βλέφαρο. Συνηθίζω να το ταιριάζω με τα ρούχα μου!
