Spring Hair

Headbands, pigtails, buns, braids.. Cute, easy, fresh for this spring. This is how I'll be styling my hair now that the weather is getting warmer.

DIY : Hair Coloring in 10 Steps with Wella Koleston 8/74

(I didn't want to put the picture of the ugly roots on top to scare you off) :P

After thinking a lot about it and researching around in youtube and google ( my two trustworthy friends) I decided to touch up my dark roots, by myself.



Last time I did it was 2 months ago at the hairdresser's, so it was about time. I also wanted to avoid paying 50 euros, since I'd have to refresh the colour and dye all my hair, from roots to ends. The colour I have since summer is Wella Koleston 7/73 and this time I decided to go with 8/74 which turns out it's exactly the same colour, called "Light blonde, chocolate red". It's practically all in one, but I'm very happy with it, since what I was rooting for from the very beginning was a light red, almost ginger, which compliments my light skin. How lucky are the people with that haircolour,I love it so much! Also, Koleston gives an amazing shine to the hair and doesn't fade easily.






What I used and what you'll need :

• 2 bottles of hair dye (1 for the roots, 1 for the rest of the hair) 5,50 eu each
• 2 bottles of oxide 20 (other brands have it inside the box, but for Koleston I had to buy it seperately) 0,60 eu each
• 1 pair of plastic gloves
• 1 plastic bowl 1,20 eu
• 1 brush applicator 1,90 eu
• 1 plastic bag
• vaseline
• hair brush

Total cost = 15,3 eu



Steps :

1. Wear an old tshirt
2. Detangle your hair.


3. Apply vaseline on the skin under the hairline and on your ears. This will help you remove the dye on your skin easily.
4. Put your gloves on.
5. Mix the dye with the oxide well using the brush, in the bowl.
6. Divide your hair into two sections and start applying to your roots. The video I found the most helpful was that. Start with the roots like I did, if you want them to be lighter. Start with the ends if you want them to be lighter and the roots darker for a more natural look ( I think!). After you cover the whole head, massage the roots and make a bun on top of your head with all the hair.
7. Put the plastic bag on your head and tie it. This will shield the heat and help the dye (so I've heard)
8. Wait for 45 minutes watching tv, blogging etc. I cooked. :)
9. Take the bag off (of course), wet your hair in the shower and start massaging it till it foams. Then wash it until the water comes clean. Do not use shampoo, it's better to wait one day before you do, so the dye can settle. What you can do, is use conditioner.
10. You are done basically. It only took me an hour, it was easier than I thought, plus I felt proud for doing it myself.

For those who want to do it but are hesitating, I say go for it! In the worst case scenario, you can darken your hair again.

Instant Glamour

Lately there's been :
lack of new clothes and lack of inspiration.

One easy and cheap thing to do when you're going through that is to play with your hair. I'm still really into big hair and eyeliner. Best way to glam up yourself and look pretty with some 50s feel to it.

Hair Care

A while ago some people asked how I take care of my hair. It has always been quite thick and strong so I didn't give much attention. When I had it curly I didn't even brush it...ever!

Lately all that changed just because I want it to feel soft and look shiny.

So here's what I currently use.

1. Shampoo. You probably noticed my love for anything sweet, sugar, candy and fruity-like. I import all my shampoos from the UK 'cause I love the big variety I can find there, with lovely smells. First time I went to England, I came back with 6 kilos of Cadburry chocolate in my luggage, and 3 kilos of shampoos and conditioners, lol.

One of my favourite brands is Alberto Balsam. The smell (Strawberries and Cream) is amazing and leaves hair super smooth. There's more for different types of hair in Rasberry, Green Apple, Blueberry and Pomegranate. Highly recommended!

I'm washing the roots and the skin of the head massaging it. I use warm water, not hot, and sometimes switching it to cold for extra shine.

Ps note. I love Pantene and I hate Garnier Fructis shampoos. Also, I discovered a brand in Hondos with alluring smells like Mango, Fig and more. Check them out if you go, they look promising!

2. Conditioner. I avoid the roots and after applying I slip the fingers through the hair like brushing it. In my opinion is the #1 important step for great hair, just like moisturizer is for our face, and body cream for our body.

3. I use different kinds of masks, once a week to repair or give that extra condition. The one I have now is one my hairdresser gave me.

4. Karites 2-phase leave in conditioner I found in Hondos Center. I spray that and then I brush my hair. It smells divine(vanilla/almond/milk) and helps conditioning and protecting from the heat ( you need a product like that, especially if you use hair irons.)

5. Swartzkopf Supersoft Detangle Spray for kids. Use it everyday for any tangles or (shh) if I want my hair to smell nice. Smells strawberry and as you can see it's for kids, hehe.But it works.
Alternative is Johnson's No More Tangles Spray in the Yellow Bottle (κάθε μέρα μαζί με μένα ξυπνάει και η ζούγκλα...δηλαδή τα μαλλιά μου!-φωνή με παράπονο-από την αντίστοιχη διαφήμιση πριν πολλά χρόνια!)

6. Batiste Dry Shampoo. Smells pinapple. When I don't have time to wash my hair and it starts getting greasy and flat. Basically it's like a "powder spray" that you massage into your hair.

How come I never knew about this??

I'm the kind of girl who (along with a million just-in-case-junk) I carry pins and clips and hair ties in my ovesized bag! In lessons, at shopping, on the beach, practically anywhere, I'll feel that my hair is getting in the way so I just want to get them away from my neck and face!

No more pins and clips for me, since I managed to do an updo with nothing but my own hair!

Side Ponytail with a Twist

I've been trying different hairstyles lately, cause I was stuck between straight hair, curly hair and ponytails...Thanks to pursebuzz (who always has fab ideas!) I found a reaaally easy hairstyle, good for all the seasons and all the occasions. It's chic, cute, it can be glamorous, and apart from the side ponytail you use the same technic for low ponytail, for a half do..Simply looove it!
